Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Indiana University, 1992; Doctorate from the University of Iowa, School of Dentistry, 1995.

Professional accomplishments: During dental school, Dr. Floyd received a research scholarship to study children's dental sealants and presented his findings at the National Institute of Dental Research's annual meeting. His academic accomplishments led him to a hospital residency program at Barnes-Jewish and Children's Hospitals in St. Louis with an emphasis in children's dentistry.

Since returning to Springfield in 1996, he has held many leadership positions in the state and local dental societies, including the Central Illinois' Representative for the New Dentist Committee and delegate for Illinois State Dental Society. Most recently, he served as Chairman of Continuing Education for the local dental society.

Community involvement: Dr. Floyd is active in many community organizations including First United Methodist Church, Rotary International, National Eagle Scout Association, and Boy Scouts of America. He is a graduate of the Leadership Springfield program offered through the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce. Currently, Dr. Floyd is a board member for the Ball Chatham Community Foundation.
