Education:  Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, 1961; Doctorate from the University of Illinois, School of Dentistry, 1965. 

Professional accomplishments: Dr. Floyd started his career as a dentist in the U.S. Navy as a Lt. Commander where the Presidential helicopter, Marine One, was stationed. Since moving to Springfield in 1967, he has been awarded Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry, American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists.  He is also a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and American Academy of Dental Practice Administration. As an Associate Clinical Professor at SIU Medical School, Dr. Floyd helped train new physicians in the role oral health plays in total body health. Dr. Floyd has also been active in organized dentistry, having served as President of the local G.V. Black District Dental Society and on various committees for the Illinois State Dental Society and the American Dental Association. He has been nationally recognized as a clinician, author and lecturer.

Community involvement: Dr. Floyd is active in the First United Methodist Church, where he served as a Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He also has a long-term volunteer commitment to the Boy Scouts of America. He served as a Scoutmaster and President of the local Boy Scout Council and received the Silver Antelope award.
